About the Centre

A spiritual community in Bury since the 1880s

Over a Century of Spiritualism in Bury

There has been a Spiritualist community in Bury since the 1880s. The earliest written evidence is on Certificate No. 74 of the Spiritualist Lyceum Union, dated 1st July 1895, giving the location of the Lyceum as King Street, Bury.

Over the years, the church has been known by various names including Bury Spiritualist Society and Progressive Lyceum, and later Bury National Spiritualist Church. Today, we're known as Bury Spiritualist Centre, and we've been at our current home on Russell Street for many years.

Through all those changes, one thing has stayed the same: a warm welcome for anyone who walks through the door. We respect all opinions and welcome everyone, regardless of background.

Joining the Centre

If you'd like to become a member of the Centre, we run an induction course covering the basics of Spiritualism. It's informal, friendly and taken at your own pace with a member of the committee.

The course covers nine topics and there's no written work involved. You'll receive a leaflet explaining each topic, and a letter of completion once you've finished.

Interested? Just speak to any committee member at a service, or get in touch.

Come and See for Yourself

The best way to get to know us is to come along to a service. There's always a warm welcome waiting.
